How do I change currency associated with customer/vendor?

Note: Editing the default currency of your customer or vendor known as Multi-currency invoicing is available only in certain plans of Zoho Books. Visit the pricing page to check if it’s available in your current plan.

Changing the currency associtated to your customer or vendor is particularly useful when they change their location or if you want to change the currency for any other reason. However, you cannot change the currency associated with a customer or vendor if you have already created transactions for them. In such cases, you need to first delete the transactions created for the customer.

Note: Once you delete the transactions created for the customer, you will not be able to retrieve them. Before deleting them, ensure that you take a backup.

Once the transactions are deleted, you can change the currency for the customer or vendor by following these steps:

  • Go to Sales on the left sidebar and select Customers.
  • Select the customer whose currency you want to change.
  • Go to the Other Details section in the Overview tab of the customer.
  • Click the Edit icon next to Default Currency.
  • Select currency code of the currency from the dropdown.
  • Click the Tick icon to change the currency.

Alternatively, change the default currency from the Edit Customer page.

Similarly, you can change the currency associated with a vendor by following the same steps in the Purchases module.
